G&D “Majesty”

G&D (Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins) again come together for the upcoming album The Lighthouse.

A couple outside of their music as well, Georgia and Dudley come together over a beautiful piano based signature Georgia production on “Majesty”, the debut single from the upcoming record.

Having been able to interact with this lovely duo first hand, I really look forward to more brilliant music from this comfy, but akward combination. Yet again coming with the amazing artwork too!

Raphael Saadiq “Radio” [video]

Raphael Saadiq kicks of 2011 with the debut single from his forthcoming album Stone Rollin, slated for release March 22, 2011.

“Radio” continues the throwback sound of Saadiq’s last record, with the video clip directed by Tracemaker out of France.

Corinne Bailey Rae vs. Mara Hruby “Is This Love” (Bob Marley covers)

Strangely enough, these two songs both landed in my in-box over the past month, both interpretations of the Bob Marley classic “Is this Love”.

Corinne Baily Rae’s cover from her Valnetine’s Day scheduled The Love EP, featuring covers of originals by Prince “I Want To Be Your Lover”, Paul McCartny “My Love”, Sly & The Family Stone/Doris Day “Que Sera Sera”, and of course Bob Marley’s classic…

Mara Hruby, a fresh new face out of San Francisco, just released her debut EP From Her Eyes, also a selections of re-workings of some of her personal favorites. Including covers of SteroLab “Lose Myself”, Van Hunt “Character”, Mos Def “Panties”, and Andre 3000 “Take Off Your Cool”.

…and an extra treat, the brand new video for Mara Hruby “Is This Love” directed by Slick Jackson and shot in beautiful NYC.

Melanie Fiona “Gone and Never Coming Back”

Here’s some new Melanie Fiona for ya’ll. While this ballad isn’t bad, I’m really hoping that this isn’t a transfer from the diverse Melanie Fiona of her first album, to the always dangerous ballad, adult contemporary pit that many a favorite R&B/soul chanteuse has fallen in to. This usually comes on record 2 or 3, so just crossing my fingers that this is only one flavour being offered on the new record. Melanie’s sophomore album The MF Life will be released later in 2011.
