Been a minute since I was able to post a Waajeed jem, but here’s a tasty little remix that Jeed did for Jazmine Sullivan as a demo cut preceding the release of her debut album Fearless in 2008.
Jeed states…
I recorded this on a weekend lockout with Jazmine Sullivan a few years back. After a meeting with her A&R Peter Edge of Interscope Records, they were looking for a signature sound for her first project (which later became, “Fearless”). I was playing some beats and she stopped me when I played this one. It was a replay of a sample I’d gotten from Jake One while at a Red Bull Music Academy retreat.
This has been floating about the internet since I played it on DJ Jamad’s Afromentals Mixshow in April of 2008, but I thought you’d like to hear a crispier copy – featuring some additional keys from Simon Katz from Jamiroquai.
Always love posting the goodness from one of my favourite producers out there.

The Main Ingredient March 2011 installment went down this past Saturday at Revival. A special Canadian Music Fest special edition featured early performances by The LYTICS from Winnipeg and Toronto’s Art of Fresh. The party segment featured a very special guest host, Janelle Monae who performed the headline set at The Indie Awards earlier the same evening at Royal York Hotel Ballroom.
We didn’t push this as a media draw to the show, but some tastemaker media and bloggers were in the spot, including Chedo of The Come Up Show (www.thecomeupshow.com) and here’s just a slice of what went down on-stage that night with Janelle and her Wondaland crew.
Enjoy…and Toronto, thank you for your support!

Faith Evans brings us a new classy joint/video for “Right Here” off her new album Something About Faith.

The first video from The Young Lioness has dropped as a Valentine’s Day treat for Teedra Moses fans.
“R U 4 Real” has the classic throwback production that made Teedra’s debut album so memorable. Organic, raw drums, and great piano loop, produced by Drumma Boy make this another Teedra hit – though the video isn’t anything special.

This made me a happy soul this morning.
Brand new song and video from Stalley, likely my favorite new emcee right now, dropped today.
“Slapp” is off his upcoming project Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music) (release date: February 8), and features Rashad who absolutely murders the hook on this one. Proudly putting Ohio on the map.
Enjoy…let us know if you’re equally excited below.
